‘twig collar’, 2007 (oxidised copper, gold leaf and found twigs)
zoë newsome is a jewellery designer who produces her work by taking inspiration from nature.
newsome interprets roses, twigs, anemones and lilies in her work, in both abstract and more realistic
terms. she blends traditional jewellery materials together with found objects to make her pieces as
delicate as their natural inspiration. newsome is currently applying her skills to the work of philip treacy,
one of the world’s foremost hat designers.
in my current work I am interpreting flowers by drawing them with wire into beautiful wearable
sculptures. by doing this, I am translating them from the perishable into the permanent. flowers inspire
me. I find them exquisite and a positive symbol of life, yet they mean different things to everyone.
