when new york based artist-musician david byrne isn’t making music from buildings he can also be
found biking around the city. the avid biker has now turned his passion for biking into a design career.
the department of transportation recently asked byrne to be a judge in a bike rack design competition.
byrne enthusiastically agreed and also submitted some of his own ideas. the department like his
neighbourhood themed designs so much they began installing them in the city. although the completion
is still running, byrne’s designs can be now seen throughout new york. the competition winners will be
revealed on october 24, 2008.
