mark hoekstra of geek technique passes away

mark hoekstra, the man behind geek technique, has passed away from a heart attack at the age of 34.
hoekstra's last project can be seen in 'hacking IKEA', a group show held at platform 21 in amsterdam.
the show invited designers to 'hack' IKEA products and re-appropriate them into new objects. hoekstra's design
was the 'IKEA love toy'. he looked to IKEA as a place which sells almost everything under the sun, but wondered
'where's the sex?' made from a hand-held mixer, a shoe form and batteries, the 'IKEA love toy' sexes up the
swedish chain store's product line. hoekstra's previous projects have also dealt with the theme of hacking
products such as the iPhone.
