london design festival 08: postlerferguson at selfridges

postlerferguson installation at selfridges

designersblock teamed up with the english department store selfridges to curate 7 window displays by
different artists and designers. the displays will be exhibited in the store’s duke street location until
october 25th. one of the windows features a special installation by the design studio postlerferguson.
for their display, the studio made a 1:1 replica of a concorde jet engine using paper and foam.
they based the design of the ‘rolls-royce/snecma olympus 593’ engine off a repair manual they bought
on ebay for 6 GBP.

it is a labour our love for the hypnotic appeal of complex machines and technical drawings and the late

modernist allure of concorde. also, it is blue. it is massive and strange and sits in the window like a big

whale, strangely tranquil and slightly alarming.
