choi, byung hoon: art · furniture
choi, byung hoon works between the boundaries of art and design, creating a tension between the two,
experimenting with form, minimalist materials and textures. on display for his solo exhibition at gallery hangil
will be his works of 'balance' which explore forms made of lumber, metal and pebbles which are applied
in primitive, sculptural ways. through his projects, he has developed a discourse which looks to the traditional
idyllic korea where practicality and aesthetic go hand in hand, trying to harmonize it with the korean culture
which is dominant today.
choi will be participating in the 'soeul design essence' exhibition which designboom is curating for the
seoul design olympiad which will run from october 10th - october 30th and will be held at the inner track
of the jamsil sports complex's main studium in seoul, south korea.
