designed for castelli, giancarlo piretti’s ‘plia’ folding chair has become an important part of design history with more than six million having been sold since its introduction in 1969. at prague designblok, haworth exhibited the results of the ‘plia NABA futurarium’ project. originating as a partnership between haworth and NABA (nuova accademia di belle arti milano), the project was a competition which asked students of the school to reinterpret the classic plia chair.  the selection of chairs ranged from rug upholstery, a bubble wrapped chair and even a wood version.
