japanese designer hisakazu shimizu is a member of canon's in-house design team, whose better known works
include product lines such as the canon digital IXUS. shimizu also develops his own products under the guise
of 'sabo studio' creating colorful and simplistic pieces that in some cases border on art installations.

mountain range table - peak of good hope
'a rugged mountain range to bring some excitement to the stiff, ordinary table - a fantasy world overflowing with
the hopes of the animals that brave its slope.'

lidded glass vessel for melon sherbet
'a lidded glass vessel for melon sherbet that relies not only on the beauty of the material, but also incorporates
a design that mimics the look of the rind. the stem and protective net are unique features.'

regent
'a chair that embodies the ultimate in simplicity and minimalism. the seat is modeled on the pompadour hairstyle.'

ice cream spoon
'giving immortality to the familiar wooden ice cream spoon. made of 18-8 stainless steel, it feels smooth and
velvety on the lips. a homage to the beloved 'inconsequential' products of the 20th century.'

ice cream cup
'replica of a 100-yen ice cream cup in stainless steel in the theme of 'lovable bad design.' the angle of the spoon
when inserted into the slit in the tray looks like a spoon stuck in ice cream.'

ovalscape
'a coffee cup for the 'deroll collection' design brand by eizo okada. all pieces have an elliptical shape.
the cup is supported by a saucer that flows like a fountain.'

chew-chew shade ver.1 (limited edition of 20 pieces)
'lighting fixture with a shade made of the 'chew-chew ice' treats that I often ate in my childhood.
the treats are removable and can be changed to suit a person's color preference.'

chew-chew chandelier
'a chandelier made up of 333 'chew-chew ice' sticks - a sweet smell ascends as the lights warm the inner sides.'

later this year hisakazu shimizu will contribute pieces to a 'deroll' exhibition curated by eizo okada, of ribbon project
and dezain later this year.
