I liked tord boontjes rough and ready chair way better (1998)
ok not made from all the sime size wood,..but he was handing out building plans of a very easy to build chair that looked similair. (its on his website)

I don't get the point. This project comes after Gerrit Rietveld's approach and Enzo Mari's "Autocostruzione".Both designers wanted people to build their own furniture and their designs were engineered towards that. None of this expensive ART DESIGN crap.

to understand the concept, here is some information
I am quoting the tokyo designer's week bulletin which
talks about max lamb's DIY chair:

'young british designer max lamb will make chairs live
at tokyo designers week as part of a design performance
in the main 100% design tokyo venue.
lamb, 28 will produce a new product called DIY chair,
which is designed so that anyone can make it using
the minimum equipment.

each DIY chair requires 31 pieces of pre-cut wood,
measuring 470x18x34mm, and 124 screws. 'it's really
low-tech' says lamb. 'it can be built from any type of wood.
the only other thing you need is a drill.' lamb says it
should take him up to an hour to make each chair.

lamb originally designed the chair for apartmamento
magazine, and the latest issue of the magazine features
a pictorial guide showing how to make the chair.'

Max refers to Mari, Boontjes et al in the instructions he wrote.

So Mari made his in the 70's, Boontjie in the 90's, Lamb in the 00's.

He writes “I designed a simple chair that can be constructed using very cheap, standard size,
building grade wood using just a hand-drill and screwdriver. A design for everyone and anyone,” explained.
