london based designer adam rowe has number of wood based designs in his portfolio, which aim to push
the conventions of the traditional material. his ‘57ft. coffee table’ is a good example of his interest in wood
experimentation. the bent plywood table is made from a continuous strip of wood that when unravelled
would measure 57ft. long. his ‘victorian grandfather chairs’ present another perspective on wood, turning
cheap chipboard into a luxury material through integration with leather and a traditional form. this same
principle is also at work in his ‘chippendale writing desk’ that combines chipboard with a varnished solid
walnut top.
