while makoto yamaguchi’s ‘drawers’ unit looks like a simple stack of boxes, closer inspection reveals a set of
drawers that pull out in all directions. yamaguchi designed the piece for the 2007 deroll commissions series,
which was based on the theme of boxes. ‘drawers’ is made from white oak and features 5 stacked boxes.
two of the drawers pull in one direction and the other three all move in opposite ways, surprising the user.
makoto yamaguchi was also a participant in designboom’s ‘crystal vision’ design competition with swarovski,
in which he designed a light engraved clock.
