‘ssstoell’ & ‘kkkrukk’ by studio voortman & girod
‘ssstoell’ & ‘kkkrukk’ by studio voortman & girod

studio voortman & girod is an architecture and design studio based in den haag, netherlands. the studio works
primarily in interiors but they also produced a series of related furniture pieces. ‘ssstoell’ and ‘kkkrukk’ are
a chair and stool that are designed in such a way that they appear like multiple iterations of the same object
repeated and shifted slightly. this strange optical illusion gives the pieces a very odd form that not intentionally
functional, gives each piece added stability. the chair takes its design from the idea of ‘sitting down’, digital
chairs are copy and pasted on top of each other creating a chair that appears to be frozen in motion.
the pieces are hand built and come in a variety of wood finishes.

if this about copy and pasting then shouldn't the title indicate that the result is an accident? If there were an ordering system, I'm sure that it would have been mentioned, otherwise it's a series of haphazard iterations, with accidents of creating a functional object.
I praise the craftsmanship, but the composition is severely lacking.
