‘bright times’ by studio tord boontje

artecnica will be launching a full collection of new products to kick off the new year. the 2009 collection
will first be launched at the maison & objet show in paris from january 23 – 27 and then later shown at
the new york gift fair from january 25 – 29.
 
the collection features ‘bright times’, a tealight holder by studio tord boontje, which comes flat-packed
and pops-up to create an interplay with the light. boontje’s ‘future flora’ pendant lamps use the same
principle only applied to hanging pendants using light bulbs. boontje also designed the ‘candle clamp’
series, a flat-packed steel design, which assembles into candleholders of different sizes. ‘piqué’ and
‘double piqué’ by studio glithero are hand-dipped candles that support themselves thanks to a coiled
base. tahmineh javanbakht’s ‘dada clock’ is a surrealism inspired alarm that comes in three bold
colours. finally, designer stephen johnson created ‘wonderland’ a series of porcelain candleholders,
which feature stacks of objects and animals.
