‘mida’ hanging lamp

the berlin based design studio formfjord recently completed their first exhibition at the cologne
furniture fair. the new collection featured a series of office furniture pieces including two lighting
pieces. ‘mida’ is a hanging lamp design for broad office lighting. the light is long and slender and
features a built-in reflector. small wooden pieces at each end cap the light, which provides both
direct and indirect light. their other lamp was the ‘theo’ task lamp. the design integrates the lamp
into the surface of a desk through a concrete ball at its base. the base holds the lamp in place and
can be rotated to adjust the position. the light itself is cantilevered off a long white metal rod.
