alex hellum is a norwegian furniture designer based in hertford, england. he studied at the royal college
of art and later opened his own studio. in addition to his design practice hellum ha taught design at
a number of universities. the studio takes on commissions from both private and commercial clients,
executed in hellum’s ethos of honest use of materials. his works are simple and made in small volumes
in cooperation with local producers and manufacturers. his work often integrates humorous touches that
add a whimsical touch to the otherwise straightforward designs, some of which are design for children.
