inflatable clouds by BSC architecture
inflatable clouds by BSC architecture

while the winner of the MoMA/P.S.1 young architects program was the proposal by MOS architects,
BSC architecture presented this equally unique design. the competition focuses on creating an installation
in the gallery’s courtyard under a strict budget and timeline. BSC decided to take this constraint and
explore its possibilities. their solution was a multifaceted inflatable installation, which reduced the
materials and lowered shipping costs. the inflatables are based on the idea of clouds being the lightest
and most economical form of summer shade. each of the clouds is suspended from a base and equipped
to glow when the sun sets. they also anticipated the end of the installation, creating the clouds so they
can be redeployed elsewhere.
