IDS toronto preview 09: 'legend' by christophe delcourt for roche bobois

dedicated to the preservation of natural resources and sustainable development,
roche bobois created, along with christophe delcourt, the legend collection:
eco-sensitive series in solid burgundy oak, 250 pieces numbered and signed by the designer.
coming from forests managed to conserve biodiversity, assembled without any hardware, glued,
dyed and water-base varnished, the solid woods from the legend collection revive the traditional
cabinet-making “savoir-faire”. by presenting its new green collections tie break and spinnaker,
both resulting from the teamwork of christophe delcourt and jerome gauthier,
roche bobois reaffirms its promise to entry the environmental citizenship era.

the 'tie break' series consists of rounded-padded lounge furniture.
clearly articulated modular frames are covered in leather and a bamboo fabric that is
ecologically friendly, exceptionally durable, and innately antibacterial, fire and water-resistant.
signature details include top-stitching that recalls superior sports equipment from mitts to saddles.

limited series of products, signed by the designer...? this way it is presented as a desirable object to have and look at, and to show off with when your elite friends come to visit you. that does not sound as if it is dedicated to the preservation of natural resources and sustainable development.
