'mold' lamps by michel charlot at le bon marche
swiss designer michel charlot has shown a light installation
at the parisian department store, le bon marché.
he designed the 'mold lamp' in 2007, while still studying at ECAL,
lausanne's design academy, under the guidance of joerg boner.
the final shape embraces the molding process of the material
while exploiting defects that occur during the process of creation.
these defects, instead of being eliminated, become the very nature
of the object, and, technically speaking, they make it possible
to obtain larger surfaces with less weight and better resistance to deformation.
