iranian-born designer khodi feiz wanted to design a convertible seating collection that made its function
transparent. his solution was the ‘peel seating’ series designed for council. the collection features a sofa,
lounge chair and chaise that all have a common backrest design. each piece is a simple rectangular form
when closed, but a portion of the back lifts up and bends to create a simple triangular form that serves as
a backrest. this simple conversion allows the pieces to be used as benches or as lounges for what the
mood or situation suits. the design was even awarded an honourable mentions in the furniture category of
ID magazine’s annual design review. feiz now lives and works in the netherlands, where he runs his own
product and furniture design studio.
