'tate otama' by young japanese designer mikiya kobayashi was
the winning entry of the recent toyama product design competition.
'bring out the strength of the material' was the theme this year.
toyama is a prosperous region in japan for metal, plastic, glass,
lacquer etc. manufacturing.
there have been many cases where the prize winners were
commercialized though companies in toyama.
