council is a furniture manufacturer who first exhibited their work at the ICFF in 2007. the company
produces pieces by arik levy, nendo, mike & maaike and its founder derek chen. chen was originally
trained as an engineer and worked in silicon valley before starting council and urbana, another design
company. chen is the creator of ‘section’ a bench designed with modularity in mind. the piece can be
used for seating, storage and display. it can be used directly on the ground or stacked in groups.
each unit is hallow inside, making room for storage and comes in a variety of finishes including felt
and natural wood.
