chessboard by studio armadillo
israeli design firm studio armadillo have sent in images of their chessboard. the design was based on head gear that is worn by jewish people.
the three dimensional board consists of two variations of grey knolls. 32 knitted skullcap (kipah-srugah) represents a chess game piece, each skullcap receives a different pattern according to its status. no industrial production of knitted skullcaps is possible: they are strictly handmade and require quite some work to make.
