tom de vrieze: 'kraftwerk' cardboard chair

'kraftwerk' chair by tom de vrieze

'kraftwerk' is a cardboard chair that has been created by designer tom de vrieze.
the chair uses only 4 mm cardboard thickness and is filled with polyurethane
expansion foam.its name arises from the use of cardboard and kraftpaper-tape.

tom de vrieze explains his design process -

first i tried to work with internal structures, without using foam, but the
unfolding patterns became to complex for DIY-builders.
i agree, not absolutely envirnoment friendly due to the expansion foam
but more durable and stronger than some other cardboard chairs.
most cardboard chairs are using larger thicknesses (and/)or are layered
which are using a lot of cardboard-surface.

This product is a joke ! More than an ugly grcic pastich ,this chair is stupid. Economise cardboard surface by putting expension foam on it , what a great ecologic step! Why don't you paint your your plant with resin to make it "more durable"?
