'camping furniture series' by jesper k. thomsen for normann copenhagen

the camping furniture series created by danish designer jesper k. thomsen takes its inspiration from the
archetypes of camping equipment. the collection of furniture is produced by normannn copenhagen as part
of their new danish modern series. consisting of a chair, table, stool and day bed, the collection aims to add
a touch of leisure to indoor settings. the pieces are made from moulded beech wood and leather webbing.
without any extra framing the series uses minimal materials, focusing instead on solid construction and
craftsmanship. the pieces are produced using traditional cabinet making techniques by kvist, one of
denmark’s oldest wooden furniture factories dating back to 1896. below you will see some behind the
scenes images of the factory making the camping series. this includes finn, a woodworker at kvist who has
never cut himself in his 27 year career.

the camping series begins as a series of thinner wood sheets
