pallucco at milan design week 09

‘crinolina’ by susanne philippson

the italian furniture and lighting manufacturer pallucco will be launching a number of new products at the
upcoming milan design week from april 22 – 27. to begin with they will be showing new lighting designs
by studio lagranja and susanne philippson at the lighting fair euroluce. ‘corallo’ by studio lagranja is a
fluorescent light that is available in floor and hanging versions. the shade is comprised of modular elements
made of injection moulded polycarbonate that resemble the branches of sea coral. ‘crinolina’ by susanne
philippson is based on a traditional form with unusual details. the lampshade of this table, floor and hanging
lamp series is peeled and removed in places as inspired by antique hooped skirts. the lamp is made from a
textile covered in pvc, epoxy powdercoated steel and lined with a reflective gold foil.

in the furniture category, pallucco will be launching the ‘itaipu’ shelf by philippe bestneider and
re-launching the 1971 ‘gronda’ coat hanger by luciano bertoncini at the salone. the re-issued coat hanger is
made of mirrored glass and looks as fresh today as it did back in 1971 when it was originally designed.
on the otherhand, the ‘itaipu’ shelf by philippe bestneider is a new design that features shelves that have full
and empty spaces. these separating elements can be used as book ends or to elevate specific objects.
