rintala eggertsson architects: 'square' market stall

the norwegian architecture firm rintala eggertsson developed this market stall design for the 2008 torino
world design capital. ‘square’ was conceived of to be a multi-functional tool for vendors at outdoor
markets. the design is collapsible and minimizes into a small rectangular box. it can be expanded slightly
with handles and wheels for portability or expanded into its full size. the compact box holds all the
necessary equipment and can easily fit inside a van for transportation. the full size kiosk measures 2mx2m
to meet the italian marketplace standard and comes complete with a table, shelves and awning.
