studio glithero at 'craft punk' design miami/ performance

studio glithero trys to capture and presents the moment of conception, the purist instance
when something becomes what it is from nothing. to milan, they bring ceramic vases
that, by exposure to light, slowly reveal themselves in vivid prussian blue.
the blueprinting will happen on ceramic vases instead of plates as pictured.
studio glithero is a london based anglo-dutch design alliance. founded by tim simpson
and sarah van gameren who met at the royal college of art, the studio creates time based
installations, and processes that give birth to unique and wonderful products.
with their own concoction of design performance, they aim to bridge creative disciplines
and reach a universal audience.

design miami/ is curating an event outside its own territories in a unique partnership with fendi.
taking place during the salone del mobile in milan, 'craft punk’ will expand on the design
performance programme that is a highlight of design miami/.
craft is an area of design production that designers often turn to in the early stages of their careers.
‘craft punk’ will transform the 750 square meter spazio fendi into an active environment for social
interaction, unruly intellectual inquiry and actionbased design processes by inviting emerging designers
to work within traditional, or hand-made, craft methods. the designers can use discarded materials
from the fendi production process, such as selleria leather, branded fabrics, plastic decorative elements,
and metal hardware. demonstrating the creation process live and onsite, they will reinvent the way
a process or material is typically employed.
the designers contributing to ‘craft punk’ include kwangho lee, massimiliano adami, nacho carbonell,
peter marigold, raw-edges, sarah becker, simon hasan, studio glithero, studio libertiny, and yuri
suzuki + household. a truly international mix of talents, they come from as far afield as japan, denmark,
italy, israel, slovakia, spain, the netherlands, south korea, germany and the UK.
nacho carbonell
nacho carbonell is presenting two new collections and a performance at milan design week 09.
studio glithero: fire drawings
the collection is created by the etching, having been treated with screen-print paint, being set aflame.
studio glithero: bench mould shelves
the set of eight poly-concrete, wall-mounted, black shelves are each built up from layers of plaster in which a 2D profile cut is made through the material resulting in crisp extrusions and lines.
studio glithero: poured bar
the bar top is made up of poured layers of fast-hardening fluid, exposing the blobs, drips, puddles and runs which are a result of its production.
