alex ostrowski: glass half empty/full

london based designer alex ostrowski created this glass to subvert the debate to
whether the glass of water is half-full or half-empty. as the popular proverb reveals,
optimistic people perceive a glass containing 50% of its potential contents as 'half full',
whereas pessimistic people consider it 'half empty'. ostrowski wanted to realize this
half empty/full glass, using a normal glass and some clear resin. the glass remains
functional but holds 50% less fluid. the drinker is thus confronted with their optimistic
or pessimistic viewpoint with every sip.

Interesting anecdotally, but pretty stupid overall.

Certainly clever. I love it. Hopefully the resin is safe to drink your water with.

Hmm - cute idea, but...
Doesn't really make sense - the useful portion of the glass can still be full/half full/empty in itself. This is just a glass with a thick bottom.
How about a glass which can be half full either way up. the base is half way up - there are two drinking rims at the top or bottom - it's impossible to fill up - when you have as much water in as possible, it's still half full due to the empty space underneath.
Needs a diagram really, I'll do one and link it

The Kraken,
As Justin stated, the useful portion of the glass [in your idea] can still be full/half full/empty in itself.

the solution is actually very simple - the glass is double the size it should be. so the design would only consist in designing a smaller glass.
