the designer aimed to add new functions to the simple act of seating:
tracking, writing and drawing, all in motion.

philippe malouin's work combines a certain element of humor, with both conceptual
and functional language. observing everyday objects and our daily lifestyle, he reinterprets,
manipulates, archetypes and transforms materials from their traditional contexts.
at nextlevel galerie, malouin is presenting 'skid row', a chair and ottoman with
a metal tubular steel frame, with supporting back and seat made up of rows of large
wooden birch wood balls and shock cord.

when the user sits down, the wooden balls move to accommodate the contours
and shape of their body.

all of its hard edges and angles that are prone to be damaged one way or another are
covered by specifically designed industrial polyurethaneangle covers.

the act of sitting is never really active, but lying in a chaise lounge could involve
some more work our participation from its user rather than just lying there.
to use the chair, the sitter must have good balance and a sense of adventure.
