sungho lee: LED clip

LED clips by sungho lee

korean designer sungho lee has sent us images of his recent project 'LED clips'.
normal LED's light parts consist of two straight legs, a plus and minus terminal pin
for power supply. lee modified the form of the legs to create 'LED clips', which can
be illuminated by clipping onto batteries.

oo...cute!
juc   06.11.09
simply smart try!
lia   06.11.09
brilliant concept and looks so cute. clip-shaped legs could be an intuitive switch by itself. right?

dear.sungho
I remember your works at tokyo designers week last year. good to see you again! I like your concept. good luck!

i always thought that LEDs need a pre-resistance

Wasnt this done in 2007?

great idea!!!
dawai   06.12.09
with the concept, it seems quite different from link,
but only name of work. cool idea.
paula   06.12.09
it will be better image to show that more than two or three
LED-clips are illuminated by clipping onto one battery. GREAT!!
detron   06.12.09
really clever and smart idea!
ettore Schioppa   06.12.09
totally representative of today's design. totally useless and as creative as a rock in guatemala's jungle.
deaupoulet   06.16.09
completely agree. this is only one of many bad ideas that design blogs and the "design community" shouldn't represent. I think I saw this in a 'This is how energy works' play kit at the science store. Not brilliant.
joel   06.16.09
If it was more fleshed out, say, a clever magnetic wall panel that you could post these clips on to your delight well thatd be different. Right now its just an electronics student 'doodle', but hey its on the internet so it must be important.

The trick would be to make it light when it's clipped onto something. It would be a cute way to make important papers stand out on someone's desk. And, in that application, a blinking LED (and a very cheap, replaceable battery) would be nice.

hi, joel.
if you are designer, please study how energy works and basic things around you before you design or think. as you agree, today's design is not really brilliant, because they miss some basic and important point through "design" contradictorily. even how energy works is so meaningful and basic thing to make people think and design. it may be design itself. in that point of view, this idea seems quite great. i'm not sure you've thought about even what design is.
etroe   06.17.09
just as a product, it may be useless,
but as a "design" it may be nice try.
