berlin-based studio proxy transformed beijing's world trade center into a sitting bench. studio proxy exhibited as part of the DMY youngsters exhibit at the DMY berlin design festival 09.


world trade bench

the concept of world trade bench is about turning architectural shapes into furniture.
it is based on a digital 3D-model from google's 3D-warehouse online archive.

i can't say i like this, nor support the (what I think to be) theory behind it, when i was in china i know the chinese i worked with, when given a chance, really liked learning to come up with there own, original ideas & they like learning, i can't help but feel that this is a few steps backwards, there is lots of really good, original ideas coming from Germany, why promote this one?
