italian manufacturing company zilio A&C recently presented new furniture products by
japanese designers tomoko azumi and takashi kirimoto. for the line, kirimoto designed the 'nuvola',
a floor lamp, with a wiggly lampshade structure made of polycarbonate that diffuses light.
the lamp's stand is made from curved beech which utilizes traditional local manufacturing techniques of japan.
it is a sustainable process which allows more flexible forms to be produced, while keeping waste to a minimum.

kirimoto has also designed 'branch' for the company. the modular shelving unit is made of lacquered Doluflex®,
a currogated aluminium sheeting that is machined by a cold forming system. the sheet is adhered between
two plain layers which results in a stable, stiff, but lightweight material that can be bent and shaped into
different components. multiple parts of 'branch' can be combined to make different sized units.

for the new line, tomoko azumi presents her 'tra' coatstand. lightweight, it uses the steambending technique
to retain the shape of the structure's elements. the product is confined to a slimbox, so that when one opens the package,
they will enjoy the pop-up action that occurs. 'tra' uses minimal material and has reduced weight for transportation
to lessen envrionmental impact.
