it look's like a mixture of several parts that in the end don't "blend" at all
tiagorosado   07.28.09
I think I see a remake of 'Goldfinger' in this yacht's future........
Venice Jack   07.28.09
This looks like something that your children might play with in the bathtub. Nothing elegant about it.

is it upside down?
sam   07.28.09
Nice Job Starck. It is smooth and sturdy at the same time. The submarine image is what I like less. Appears to be full of surprises inside.

Maybe he can design and have a few small ships for the U.S. Navy. They don't seem to be able to do it, or I should say give the contracts to anyone that can. At least without billions of dollars over overruns and five year delivery delays of ships- that have so many problems that it will be even more years before they are finally operational.

The rendering and the picture look very different. Especially the nose of the hull the close up shows a different surface than what the rendering shows. As well the anteni (not sure how to spell) on top seem more like typical ones on other boats and not the simplified ones in the rendering. Nice stuff but not very well exicuted in the final product. The splicity in the hull is the best part but was messed up in the final.

oh...
new design lines to cut across the oceans.
i liked the way front end is designed. looks like its gonna penetrate the water, and offer aerodynamic support all along its body. least resistance....
also the lines are opposite to the usual streamlined yatch designs, yet so functional.
humm... side view is a bit of a let down... too much a submarine... ?
: )
how cares when you are rich and famous? lol

hmm....can we see the interior? i think it would be interesting and fun.
wira   08.02.09
Hmmm have my doubts with this one...

I like the shape but.....

Isn't that front end making the boat more instable?
I mean... yeah it looks like a knive cutting the water like boter.
But when you look at the photo of the front end it looks like it's creating a sort of surface that can increase vertical force on the boat as a result of waves banging on the boat.
Isn't that just increasing the instability of the boat. This boat is clearly gonna cost a fortune (designer and one of a kind) so I would want a stable boat.

I'm just thinking out loud here :P

And I agree on wira, knowing Starck designs, the interior should be interesting to see :D

I wonder why it took several years since AGNOS a-tec Tindler presented 1994 his concept for a fast container feeder ship for NORASIA at HDW Kiel with the same front of the hull.
The team Stark - Francis did not even know how strong this body is in speed, comfort and economic data.
Now suddenly there are several ships based on the same ideas. OK, better now than never!!!
loftin@live.de   08.03.09
it looks much nicer in the computer renderings.
lawbert   08.04.09
Another one of those ego statement. Those who die with most/best toys win. It's just another piece of luxury object that floats on water call boat but this time with a sexier streamline and imprinted with the signature Philippe Stark.
I am not a millionaire. Not many are too. Does the world really need another new floatation device like this.

rich guy should study meditation and sufficiency, not be lost in the 1950's big-ism, consumption-ism.
Boat is gimmicky.
As are many trendy buildings today.

I was lucky enough to see the in Kefalonia, Greece coming out of the port. It is colossal beyond belief and everyone on the beach where i was was just breathtaken and shocked... beautiful craft, no matter what anybody says on here...
Joe E   08.07.09
ridiculous waste like this should be forbidden. Philip Starck ones more shows that his ego and wallet are more important than making a contribute to keep this world healthy

bein   08.11.09
Man, you wouldn't want to be in very heavy waves with that - if they get big enough the boat'd stab straight into them, and then the full force of the wave would hit right into that slit, probably ripping it off - there's a reason why most bows curve up rather than down...

I guess if you had that much money though you could probably just buy a new one if one sank. Too bad there's only room for 2 in the helicopter, see ya later, faithful crew!
