arndt menke- zumbragel: woodway bicycle

berlin designer arndt menke- zumbragel is the creator of this unique bicycle made using wood.
the project began by investigating the use of wood as a construction material, paying close
attention to its particular considerations. the result is a fully functional bike with a frame weight of
2.3 kg. with some special metal parts and carefully constructed wood pieces, arndt has created
a bike that blends new and old together into one unique package. make sure to check out the
bent wood detail on the rear support.

It would be interesting to find out the cost of producing such a design achievement economically.
Arndt menke- zumbragels project is inspiring and I wish them great fortune for the future.

the special metal is troughout known as aluminium...
i'm also not sure what's new about it... and what's old?!
regarding the aesthetics for me the frame geometry is rather boring and functionally limited (for it doesn't seem to be a real track geometry... that it should be if it's fixed gear... what i assume it is, as it has no brakes)

good quality of work-craftmanship...
but then went through aaron's observations, and i should say he/she is prety much right.
the practicality of the cycle still beats me
the bambo cycle by ross lovegrove looks much more practical...
never the less, i liked it on the whole
The only sad thing is that same frame from best alloy, titanium or carbon is 1kilogram lighter.
Therefore there is a little question sneaking in...Why?
jarbas lopes: natural fiber bicycle
the bicycle has been covered entirely with a woven surface formed from biodegradable material.
overade foldable bike helmet
offering as much protection as a standard helmet, 'overade' folds up when not in use, allowing it to be easily carried in a purse or backpack.
spine urban bicycle security
the redesigned bicycle frame of the 'spine' urban bicycle provides for stable riding, even as it doubles as a built-in locking mechanism.
michael schoner: coathanger chopper
the clothes hanger moves through out the space, controlled by radio and propelled by two computer fans.
little red house in nolita
the six story brick building, originally used as a 19th century carriage factory, has been reinvented as a minimalistic and mod...
