earlier this year british designer simon hasan presented the second generation of his vase family series
at sotheby's london. the collection was exhibited as part of janice blackburn's small show huge talent.
the series takes inspiration from the use of leather bottles, blackjacks and bombards in the 16th & 17th
centuries. each vase is based on the forms of antique wine bottles. hasan combines the ancient process
of leather boiling with oil-gilding in gold and palladium to produce this more refined version of his
original vase family.
