we recently featured the work of kevin cyr, here is another project of his titled 'camper kart'.
the pop up camper is affixed to a shopping cart which can be pushed to a chosen location
and opened to serve as a functioning habitat for an urban camper. the project investigates
habitats and housing, recycling and ecology; exploration and mobility.

yep, defiantly has the 'wow factor'!!

great design.
however, I foresee a couple of problems
. the wheels of the trolley need to be locked, else there is a danger of moving in the night
. the hard top protection against hail is only above the trolley, so there is a danger of the tend itself being punctured
. in case of flooding, though the distance above the ground is definitely preferred, there is the possibility the trolley will tip over or move.

Otherwise, it is a cracker of a design

hats pretty neat. if i was in a need for a place to stay i would bye it.

Something extremely similar is already in production and in use for homeless people and people staying in shelters. Seems like a rip-off. Urban camping? WTF? See EDAR: http://www.edar.org/

Bonus: EDAR doesn't look like it would tip over like this would.

The project here looks interesting but I don't think I could deal with such a project, so I hope that the project would yield positive fruits. Moreover, the camper cart here reminded me of a camp trip that I had with friends and we had a grill party at night with bear, steaks cooked on a griddle, and it was quite fun to sleep at nature, anyway I hope to find more interesting content here.

And as soon as you lie down, the cart tips over. There is little stability side-to-side for a cart with a top-heavy load.

ummm...

this would seriously tip over unless you were one really balanced sleeper.

this would work if it had flip down stabilizers on either side...

like the legs of a lawn chair or similar

otherwise will be really unstable

"the project investigates habitats and housing, recycling and ecology; exploration and mobility."

The project is somebody fucking around with Photoshop trying to be "clever". Fail.
