maezm: 'sofa-dress' and 'table-dish-cover'

maezm: 'sofa-dress' and 'table-dish-cover'

design studio maezm is made up of young korean design duo cho eun whan and shin tai ho
who explore design in all its possible forms: space, lighting, vision, image. they will be exhibiting
as part of this year's designersblock london, presenting their projects 'table dish cover' and 'sofa-dress'.

made from urethane foam, the 'sofa-dress' explores the suggestion of furniture. the act of putting the
'clothes of a sofa' on an existing chair, makes the previous object become a more comfortable
piece of seating.

the 'sofa-dress' can fit over just about any chair, making it a more comfortable form of seating

the silhouette of the covered chair is still seen throught the urethane foam

'table-dish-cover' is made from injected molded silicon

maezm will also be exhibiting their 'table-dish-cover'. the flexible table cloth substitutes dishes and other serveware making it possible to prepare food anywhere just by spreading it over a table. when the meal is over, the 'table-dish-cover' is removed and washed. made from infected molded silicon, the flexible cloth of dishes can be folded, rolled or crushed, bringing a new way of life that is not affected by space or time limitations.

maezm's 'table-dish-cover' was a short-listed winner of designboom's MACEF dining in 2015 competition.

draped over a table, dishes are already arranged for food preparation and serving

the silicon material makes the cover easy to clean and store

THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE. A new concept, NO. a new design, NO. please look at Tablecloth With Bowl, by Saar Oosterhof, produced by DROOG in 1998. Sure, Maezm has added some additional bowls and whatnots, but should they be praised for this concept...NO.
mason storm   08.27.09
nice stuff, yet the second work is a complete ripoff from Droog. I don't remember the name of the piece, yet if you check their catalogs/books you'll see what I'm talking about.

the idea is similar to "tablecloth with bowl"
1998 by saar oosterhof!!

Check it! i doubt ....

reply to mason,
yes....that right! just the material is not the same as tablecloth with bowl....
i think the idea of tablecloth with bowl is more "droog" and shock!!
