sarah dery: mousetrap

as the saying goes 'build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door.' while this
mousetrap by sarah dery doesn't improve the functionality of the product it does attempt to treat the
killing of the mouse with more respect. dery created this unique mousetrap package after noting the
close relationship between mice and people and the brutal nature of mousetraps. her design solution
was a cardboard trap which is shaped like an iconic coffin. this serves the function of being easier to
handle while treating the dead animal with respect. the final package can then be buried. dery designed
the trap while studying under professor sylvain allard at UQAM in montreal, and don't worry no
animals were harmed in the making.
