formafantasma: set in concrete

the designers of formafantasma created the series 'set in concrete' to prevent object from
being used and disposed of right away. one of the ways they observed always added a sense
of value to objects was weight. a light object suggest something unimportant while a
heavy object holds more presence. ‘the stone and its connected materials as marble, concrete etc,
represent for us a physical icon of the eternity and our desire to testify it.’ in order to add
value to objects, they incorporated elements of concrete. the collection includes a pedestal
weighing 300kg, a teapot and two cups produced by the royal maastricht sphinx company
and four plates, all trapped in concrete pedestals. below you can see the products themselves
and shots from the royal maastricht sphinx company.
