totem kiosks by motoelastico + parang


kiwa screen totem kiosks
traditional black korean roof tiles, known as 'kiwa' are used to spell out 'the clue' which is the biennale's theme

outside this year's gwangju design biennale's main building, motoelastico(marco bruno + simone carena)
and parang have created an installation of totem kiosks. the forms of the kiosks are based off
symbols drawn from korean culture: temples, pagodas etc. the interior structures are made from
metal which are covered with an elastic mesh material, revealing each of the totem designs.
the colorful structures house a design shop, food vendors, information and ticket booths.

the YELLOW one is the main sign at the entrance of the biennale [the title is written in both english and korean]: the PINK and the LIGHT BLUE are gift shop: the GREEN is a double decker, info booth at the first level and cafe' on the second next to the flying bamboo forest: the small DARK BLUE, the RED and the YELLOW are tickets booth; the ORANGE is a food stall.
All in form of MISSILE and moon landing MODULES to welcome visitors to the exploration of the Gwangju Design Biennale planet!
