thai designers paiwate wangbon and eggarat wongcharit created chairs by using water
hyacinth that is over distributed in the jungles of south east asia which destroys
equilibrium in the ecosystem. the design suggests a way of turning a problem into an
ecological solution. the ikat, traditional thai dying technique is used to decorate weaved
water hyacinth in a way to demonstrate the quality of intergration between
modern design and traditional craft techniques inherited.
