michael marriott: new works

michael marriott talking with a carpenter about his ‘hereford’ chair

london-based designer michael mariott has worked extensively with furniture makers established
& sons
, SCP and trico among others and over the past year, has completed a number of new pieces.
the first is a reworking of the classic windsor chair titled ‘hereford’. for the piece, marriott used solid ash
combined with a white finish and red paint-dipped feet. ‘shoe shelf’ is another new piece made from
aluminium and reclaimed wood. the design has small shelves for shoes that are each unique thanks to the
variety of reclaimed wood. ‘joe’ is a side table designed for mobility thanks to three bowling ball-like
holes on top. the table was created for SCP using solid ash and based on an earlier prototype of marrriott’s.
finally marriott presented 'ply stool' for paul smith during the london design week 09.
