tjep: oogst 1000 wonderland

oogst 1000 wonderland by tjep

amsterdam based studio tjep has designed oogst 1000 wonderland, a self-sufficient
farm with restaurant, hotel and amusement park that has the ability to sustain
1,000 people a day. earlier tjep designed oogst 1 solo (a farm to sustain one person)
and oogst 100 community (a self-sufficiant house to accomodate 100 people).
for this third project, the structures of original dutch farm buildings have been used,
but their traditional layout has been completely re-arranged. every element within the
complex is linked by technology proposed in the greenhouse village(utrecht, the netherlands)
in order to create a self-sustainble system.

all food for the restaurant comes from the central structure and adjacent fields.
when hotel guests work as farmers, they receive the privilege of staying for free.
the toilets are linked to a bio-gas energy system to gather resources to maintain the structure.
as a result, the users actually get paid 0.50 euro per visit. the entire process is visible
to the visitor, giving the complex a didactic function to new agricultural developments.

'clockwork snow' appears as a grouping of mechanical gears that seem to drop from heaven like icy snowflakes, crystallizing into a magical machine frozen in time.
