'colander' table by daniel rohr
the latest project by german designer daniel rohr is the 'colander' table. the futuristic
table consists a bowl like form with 909 holes. the project is an experiment, to delete
space and material. this opens for the observer an other point of view with a different
sense. when objects are placed on top of the table it gives the illusion that they are
floating.

Can somebody explain me why this objet is Futuristic. Look like a part of an aircraft. And probably use the same fabrication technique.
No, you cant become a design star(k) for that. I prefer to say, nice work. And I mean it.

I honestly think it's horrible...sorry!

Using one of the more environmentally damaging materials in such an inefficient way just to make objects look like they float is completely stupid.

this strikes a bit close to marc newson's event horizon table methinks, no?... [url=http://about.nsw.gov.au/collections/doc/event-horizon-table-by-marc-newson/]

and the sustainability ¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?
Lucio 10.06.09
It's sustainable in that it's built well enough to last, unlike something from, say, IKEA's low-end stock, which is built for a college student to throw away at the end of the semester. Maybe we can think a little more broadly about sustainability and not let it debase our design critiques.
