zork

zork

the zork is a new alternative to the classic cork for sealing wine bottles. since cork is becoming more rare,
winemakers have been searching for a new method of sealing their products. in recent years there have
been wines sealed using screw tops, synthetic corks and now zork. the design combines the ease of use
found in screw tops with the pop and resealing ability of a natural cork. the open a zork sealed wine,
the user peels off the bottom part of the cap and then simply lifts the top part off. the cap can be reused after
popping to preserve the wine and never requires a corkscrew or other special tool. the zork comes in a still
wine version and sparkling.

Cork is not becoming more rare. Still as abundant as ever. And while I understand the need for alternative closures due to cork taint, this issue(why the zork exists) is less and less prevalent.

On top of this cork is natural, and not petroleum based. Zorks are sadly a bad choice. Screw caps maybe, but Zorks no.

this thing looks really complicated....and i mean complicated, not complex...and additionally, it's really very very ugly.

Cork is not becomming rare and by the way, not only is natural as the cork production belongs to one of the best preserved ecosystems in Europe.

i dont think cork is rare, but it does give a 10% failure in the preservation of wine. screwcaps give a 2% failure. hence why they are now better than cork, they preserve the wine better.

tengo la sensacion de que aqui en La Rioja region vitivinicola espaņola no funcionaria. No creo que tenga ningun punto en comun con el vino.

Another over designed solution to a problem that doesn't exist...even if cork was becoming more rare there is already (as mentioned) screw tops and synthetic corks...which work fine! Infact I'd prefer a synthetic cork to this monstrosity! And looking at the amount of component parts how much is this thing gonna add to the price of a bottle of wine? Worst thing i've seen all year...

This product is not new, I bought a bottle of Red Knot 2-3 years ago and it had the same mechanism. It is a nice product to use, giving the satisfying peeling and pulling action of the cork, with the convenience of the screw cap. Only thing they may need to address is recycling and/or responsible material choice. People need to realise that you can't judge a product purely on photos, it's all about the experience.
