ming vase by noam bar yochai

the process began by turning the form on a lathe
young israeli designer noam bar yochai has designed the ming vase.
in this glazed earthenware piece, yochai has incorporated decorative techniques found in
chinese craft and has combined them with new technology. 58 LED lights are used to illuminate
a random pattern, which ends up spelling the word 'ming' across the vase, reflecting on our
society's perceptions of aesthetic values
throughout time, and questioning the role of craft
in our industrialized world.

the wooden vase is then cast to make a plaster mould

'ming'
as an industrial ceramicist I find this kind of endeavour pretty futile.
This vase has no connection at all with ancient Chinese pieces...
Confused???
can these be purchased?
