gifted is a project by will carey which seeks ways of shaping the future by engaging with the generation who will be faced with such scenarios and decisions, seeking the reactions and opinions of children themselves. it raises questions about how children could use their fantasies and dreams to imagine an alternative genetic future. the prototypes carey has developed help materialize an imaginary future where a child’s ability is considered before they are even born, and where they are influenced via training and parental supervision throughout development. in gifted, he explores the possibility of genetic modification which enables children to absorb higher levels of oxygen, which enhances concentration, focus and calmness along with improving athletic ability and improving general health.
