ravioli by toshihito okura, is a two-dimensional piece has been laser cut to look like a task lamp and printed with the graphic of one – including a light bulb. his intentions for this simplified task lamp was to make the form easy to understand for people who are not well versed in design. for okura, the ravioli lamp is a fusion of nostalgia and technology. it expresses that the more technology progresses, it is apparent that the form of design dissolves. ravioli is made from pine veneer and aluminum mirror laminate. the graphic lines have been silkscreened onto the grain and mirror, and the shade is made three dimensional with a polyester sheet. the name ravioli makes reference to the shade of the light which is a sealed piece of cellophane illuminated by LEDs. the light comes in wood or metal. ravioli by toshihito okura exhibited at 100% design tokyo 09.
