holland’s zuiderzee museum will display work by dutch artist maarten baas, recently
named designer of the year 2009 by design miami. baas created the zuiderzee clock
especially for the zuiderzee museum which is part of the exhibition real time. the clock
will be on show at design miami from december 1-5, 2009.

in real time, maarten baas expresses his perception of time in four film clocks:
grandfather’s clock, sweeper’s clock, analog digital clock, and the zuiderzee clock.
people (filmed) take over the function of the hands of a clock and affect the way the time
is shown. the project symbolizes the zuiderzee museum’s way of thinking with regards
to time by combining the timelines of the past and the present, rather than showing
history chronologically.

the exhibition will be on view at zuiderzee museum from december 26th, 2009 to may 10, 2010.
