jakob neb design: car-mural - think outside the parking box competition shortlisted revealed

car - mural by jakob neb design from germany is one of the 66 shortlisted entries
from our recent designboom competition 'think outside the parking box' in collaboration
with nissan.
jakob's idea plays with the urban, tough aspect of the qashqai. seemingly random pillars are
sticking out of a wall, able to cradle a cars wheel. a computer calculates the space in between
the pillars and arranges the cars accordingly. since the wheelbases of cars differ only
marginal in their segments and the pillars are wide enough for a range of sizes, the structure
can hold a good cross-section of cars and can compete with other garages. it has an optimal
use of space and creates a sculpture of cars in an urban surrounding.
