karimoku, the oldest japanese furniture manufacturer have teamed up with design studio
isolation unit to produce the collection 'new standard'. during the tokyo design week 09,
karimoku exhibited at 100% design tokyo.
designboom is panel member of 100% design tokyo and this year headed the jury which
selected karimoku for '3 design oscars' - the grand award, product award and editor's award.

(netherlands), sylvain willenz (belgium) and big game (switzerland/belgium) to be involved.


'signs' coat hangers by big-game, in the background is an amazing print on wood, it is very detailed.

the pieces are strictly sustainable and designed with the aim to promote the maintenance / conservation
of forests and to increase biodiversity. the used wood is gained from the thinning of japanese forests -
the material is a common waste product of forestry.
